Heddington Preschool is a thriving village preschool just outside of Calne, offering high-quality care and education for children aged 18 months to 5 years. We are proud to operate across two outstanding sites, Heddington and Cherhill, providing flexible childcare options, including full-day care during term time and year-round care between the settings.

Our journey began in 1978 when Cherhill Preschool was established as a small playgroup in the village hall. After years of growth, we moved to a purpose-built setting within the grounds of Cherhill C of E School in 2006. In 2019, Cherhill Preschool merged with Heddington Preschool, allowing us to expand our provision and continue our mission to nurture young minds in safe, inspiring environments.

Both settings are located in beautiful rural surroundings with plenty of outdoor space for children to explore, play, and learn. We believe in creating an environment that is “an extension of home, not a watered-down school,” following The Curiosity Approach to early education. Our dedicated and fully trained team, led by the Manager, delivers the Early Years Foundation Stage with warmth, creativity, and a strong focus on learning through play.

Children at our preschools enjoy a wide range of experiences from walks around the village and forest school sessions in the sensory garden, to music time, PE sessions, gardening, and exploring nature. We aim to spark curiosity, build confidence, and lay strong foundations for lifelong learning.
